THIS METAMORPHOSIS

Be silky redwood terrestrial. Be Pacific still. Repeat glass center. Be ubiquitous multiple arms, small good mums in the center repeat. Be diminutive. Perhaps be stronger patient blue to taper. About to become a mouth for peace, a louder ear. Be broken or violet, repeat a simple cortex. Be a latitude, a duration of flickers in a sentence. Of platinum, be pillows for the approaching loudmouth. Be childhood hitting the pavement. Be the leaves of a couplet building equipoise. Be plumed nounless deltas. Your pulse that knits. Drag me to the edge. It was the lake you invented. Be facing the sea, a standing wave. Be an assembly. A fine sunrise. Repeat.

JULIANA LESLIE is the author of two collections, More Radiant Signal (Letter Machine Editions, 2010) and Green Is for World (Coffee House Press, 2012). She currently lives in Santa Cruz, CA.
